I was born, raised and attended schools in Germany. For some reason life brought me to the US. I live in the US for some time now. Unfortunately none of my formal training from Germany was recognized in the US. I had to go back to college and I studied Business and Mathematics. I became a High School Mathematics teacher. In the math courses I taught I always tried to weave various aspects of mathematics in so that students learn to see that we are surronded by mathematics. The mathematics curriculum that was used by the school district could be very dull and didn’t show how mathematics is actually used in the „real“ world. I enjoyed teaching neverthless I left the classroom some years ago to pursue a new role as a Math Instructional Coach and to go back to school. In my research I looked at on how underrepresented student groups gain more confidence in mathematics when they are able to apply mathematical concepts in Career Technical Educational (CTE) Courses. Currently I am the Career Technical Coordinator at a High School in Bend Oregon.
