Lancement d'IMAGINARY France

Ce samedi 21 mars 2015 à 13:30 à la Bibliothèque de l’Alcazar à Marseille a lieu le lancement public d’IMAGINARY France. Cet événement s’insère dans le Forum des Mathématiques Vivantes et est accompagné d’une exposition grand public «Mathématiques Vivantes et Visuelles» sous l’ombrière du Vieux Port de Marseille.

Le contenu de l’exposition marseillaise, proposée par le Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) et la chaire Jean-Morlet, présente une large sélection d’images de Herwig Hauser, actuellement titulaire de cette chaire à Marseille et collaborateur de longue date d’IMAGINARY. L’exposition présente aussi une sélection de contributions françaises et francophones.

Le lancement ce samedi présentera la version française de la plateforme, imaginary.org/fr, ainsi que le logiciel emblématique SURFER en français. Les prochains buts du projet IMAGINARY France, soutenu par Cap’Maths et membre du réseau AudiMath, incluent la production d’une exposition itinérante en France pour 2016 et l’accroissement des contributions de la communauté des mathématiques française et francophone à la plateforme.

We are very happy that the user response to the new IMAGINARY platform was so big - too big for our server capacity. Today in the morning we registered 1.3 million accesses on the site (before 11:30 am) and we had to react quickly to shift the website to a new server. This caused several delays and also the platform was not online for about 2 hours. We are very sorry for this!

On March 5, 2013 the new exhibition “Mathematics of Planet Earth” (MPE) and the new IMAGINARY platform will be launched officially at the MPE UNESCO day. The new Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) will open its doors in Manhattan, New York. “Mathematics illuminates the patterns and structures all around us. Our dynamic exhibits and programs will stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity, and reveal the wonders of mathematics.
