Die erste gemeinssame Veranstaltung von AIMS und IMAGINARY wurde im März 2014 organisiert, als IMAGINARY in Dar es Salaam, Tansania, den zehnten Jahrestag der π-day-Feierlichkeiten mitbeging (siehe die Bilder von der Veranstaltung oder diesen Blogeintrag).
Vom 14. bis zum 17. Oktober 2014 ist AIMS-IMAGINARY beim Ministerforum über Wissenschaft, Technik und Innovation (STI) in Afrika zugegen. Das Forum tagt an der Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology in Rabat, Marokko. AIMS-IMAGINARY nimmt daran mit einem Ausstellungsstand und einer Vorstellung seiner Agenda für offene und kollaborative Mathematikkommunikation in Afrika teil, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf neuartigen Methoden in Mathematikunterricht und outreach.

Vom 5. bis zum 7. November 2014 organisieren AIMS, IMAGINARY und das Mathematische Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach eine Ausstellung mit Workshop mit dem Ziel, Ideen auszutauschen und zukünftige Projekte im Bereich öffentliches Engagement und outreach in Wissenschaft und Lehre mit Partnern in Afrika zu planen.
Weltweite vereinte Bestrebungen mit Partnern in Afrika sind nötig, um Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften zu fürdern. Ziel dieses Workshops ist, interaktive Mathematiklernmittel vorzustellen und gemeinsam künftige Aktivitäten zu planen. Die Veranstaltung ist sehr interaktiv und partizipativ ausgerichtet. Sie umfasst Kurzpräsentationen, Arbeitstreffen über spezielle Aktivitäten und ständige Ausstellungen, die erlauben, interaktive Mathematik und hands-on-Objekte kennenzulernen. Dank der Förderung durch das International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) können Reisekostenbeihilfen für Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer aus Afrika zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
