Exhibition about women in mathematics, including portraits of women mathematician from around the world, interactive mathematics, sculptures, images and 3D printings, all together with a round table about women in science, and a workshop for children.

 

The Women´s colectivity “Colectivo de Mujeres Matemáticas de Chile” (https://www.mujeres-matematicas.cl/) reproduced and enlarged a picture exhibition called “Retratos de Matemáticas”, which now contains pictures of 23 women mathematician from Europe and Latinamerica. This exposition has as main goal changing matematician´s stereotype, and promoting mathematics among joung women.

In this ocation, “Retratos de Matemáticas” will be accompanied by the exhibition of mathematical pictures and sculptures, some of them taken from the collection of the IMAGINARY platform. There also will be a collection of experiments, games and interactive demonstrations of mathematical concepts, created by the mathematician Mónica del Pilar Canales Chacón, as well as a round table about today´s the role of women in mathematics, and a ludic activity about Fibonacci numbers for children.

The activity is founded by the research project “Anillo Matemáticas y Género”, and it will held on the locations of the research center Centro de Estudios Científicos CECs, in the city of Valdivia, Chile.
