Los visitantes crean su propia exposición de arte matemático

Visitors create their own math art pictures, which make the exhibition!
Siguiendo nuestra estrategia IMAGINARY de exposiciones colaborativas y generadas por los participantes (cabe recordar la exposición «Matemáticas del Planeta Tierra», creada a partir de contribuciones de los usuarios), presentamos el nuevo proyecto “SURFER - los visitantes crean una exposición matemática”, en la que la propia exposición la van construyendo los visitantes sobre el terreno y desde su base. El proyecto se pondrá en marcha en colaboración con el Phaeno, en Wolfsburgo (Baja Sajonia, Alemania) y se celebró entre el 13 y el 15 de septiembre de 2013 en el Phaeno.
Los visitantes harán geometría algebraica en tres dimensiones en tiempo real – en un ambiente de juego – y así crearán una exposición de arte matemático. ¡Formas coloridas generadas por medio de fórmulas sencillas! Las imágenes pueden imprimirse sobre la marcha y así – paso a paso – se va montando en las paredes de la sala una exposición de matemáticas constituida únicamente con las contribuciones de los visitantes.
Ofrecemos también la posibilidad de participar desde su casa: cualquier persona puede usar el programa SURFER para crear visualizaciones. El programa se puede descargar en www. imaginary.org/program/surfer. Las imágenes, con las fórmulas respectivas, se pueden enviar a surfer@phaeno.de. ¡Se seleccionarán las veinte contribuciones más bellas para mostrarlas en la exposición!
El plazo para participar finalizó el 11 de septiembre de 2013.

We are very happy that the user response to the new IMAGINARY platform was so big - too big for our server capacity. Today in the morning we registered 1.3 million accesses on the site (before 11:30 am) and we had to react quickly to shift the website to a new server. This caused several delays and also the platform was not online for about 2 hours. We are very sorry for this!

The new Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) will open its doors in Manhattan, New York. “Mathematics illuminates the patterns and structures all around us.
