We are calling students of the Art and Design fields as well as independent Artists and Designers to participate in the Math Creations contest for Art, Design and Mathematics. The goal of the contest is new creative ideas based on mathematical concepts and their realization. It is organized by the special research fields “Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics” and “Raum - Zeit - Materie. Analytische und Geometrische Strukturen” in collaboration with IMAGINARY.
This is the first event of the Math Creations Project. Inspiration for contest ideas are offered during an evening of discussion with speakers of the two special research fields. We want to fuel the enthusiasm of the participants to use mathematics in art and design. The jury members and contest guidelines will be introduced.
This is a public event. We invite interested participants, representatives of the press, artists and designers as well as mathematicians. There will be a film crew recording the event.
After this first event, the content of the talks will be made available online for the participants. Additionally, we offer email support and mathematical guidance during office hours.
The creative ideas of the participating teams will be presented to the jury, the other participants and the interested public in our second event.
Winners of the competition receive one of the grants adding up to a maximum of 3738 EUR total for realization of their creative work, which will be exhibited during our third event in May.
