IMAGINARY will be at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will be the first ICM in Latin America, as well as in the Southern Hemisphere.

Meet us at booth 71!

We will present the current prototype of our first episode, about brownian motion, of the HOLO-MATH project using Microsoft HoloLens Mixed Reality devices. HOLO-MATH is an international project to produce immersive live experiences in mathematical sciences using the latest mixed reality technology. It’s the first project to use state of the art technology for scientific knowledge transfer in a museum environment and on a large scale. The HOLO-MATH partners are Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP), IMAGINARY, One More, Holo-Light, The Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI), Kouz, and external research consultants.

Our booth will also be a hub for mathematicians, interested in math communication, outreach and knowledge transfer. We want to discuss new ideas, projects, and challenges. If you attend the ICM, join us and please also bring any article, software, project, object connected to math outreach to our booth.

There will also be two invited panels on maths communication at the ICM:

Panel 18.5 - Math museums: a worldwide explosion
Room 101 D, August 04 | 16:30-18:00
Moderator: Cindy Lawrence
Panelists: Albrecht Beutelspacher, Sylvie Benzoni, Deborah Raphael, Sujatha Ramdorai

Panel 18.4 - New avenues for raising public awareness of mathematics
Room 101 D, August 04 | 14:45-16:15
Moderator: Simon Pampena
Panelists: Ko-wei Lih, Mariana Pereira, Nikolai Andreev, Rogério Martins, Tadashi Tokieda
