Organised by Leibniz Network "Mathematical Modeling and Simulation" at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics.

The first Leibniz MMS Days is an activity of the Leibniz Network “Mathematical Modeling and Simulation”. It will bring together institutions in varied fields from natural to social sciences. The goal is to systematically exploit the potential of modern methods of MMS and create synergy effects. The first conference will be held at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics.

In order to account for thematic diversity, the workshop will comprise both general plenary discussions and smaller groups focussed on specific themes.

The key speakers are:

  • Rupert Klein - “How Math Helps Structuring Climate Discussions”
    FU Berlin
  • Konrad Polthier - “Discrete Mathematics for Geometry Processing”
    FU Berlin

Dietmar Kröner, vice director of the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, will talk about IMAGINARY exhibits related to mathematical modeling and simulations (among them for example the interactive exhibit Dune Ash).
