IMAGINARY will be represented at its first event in collaboration with AIMS at the 10th anniversary of the π-day celebrations in Dar Es Salaam, with a small interactive SURFER exhibit.

The Mathematical Association of Tanzania in collaboration with the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)-NEI is celebrating its 10th Anniversary of the National Pi-Day on the 13th and 14th of March 2014. In order to fuel the collaboration between AIMS and IMAGINARY, an interactive exhibit of SURFER will be displayed at this event in Dar es Salaam.

The event is expected to be attended by up to 2000 school children and 200 teachers from all over the country.

Note: a detailed report on the event can be found in this blog entry.

About AIMS and the Next Einstein Initiative

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is a pan-African network of centers of excellence for post graduate training, research and outreach in mathematical sciences. Its mission is to enable Africa’s brightest students to flourish as independent thinkers, problem solvers and innovators capable of propelling Africa’s future scientific, educational and economic self-sufficiency.  AIMS was founded in 2003 and has produced more than 560 graduates, about one third of whom are women. The goal of the Next Einstein Initiative is to build 15 centres of excellence across Africa by 2023. Follow AIMS on Facebook and Twitter
