We organize a two-day workshop for individuals and institutions involved in science communication in Versailles, on Wed 3 and Thu 4, December 2014.

Program: Wednesday 3 December, 9:30 - 13:00

Presentation of the IMAGINARY project (www. imaginary.org) and setting up of the new section “IMAGINARY en France”, a project by Cap’Math in collaboration with the Matematisches Forschunginstitut Oberwolfach. Discussion on the structure of IMAGINARY in France and its activities (translations, network/communication, exhibitions).

Wednesday 3 December, 14:30 - 16:00

Continuation of the morning session. Preparation of an action plan for the launch of IMAGINARY en France.

Wednesday 3 December, 16:30 - 19:00

Collective discussion about the museums of mathematics. With the participation of: the Maison des Mathématiques et de l’Informatique (MMI), the Maison Fermat, the MiMa-Oberwolfach, the Cité des Géométries, the Palais de la découverte, the musée informatique numérique, the projet grand IHP, the projet Science Ouverte.

The day will end with a dinner at 20:00 in a Versailles restaurant.

Thursday 4 December, 9:30 - 13:00

Presentation of actions in the network Audimath/Cap’Maths, including some examples of stage MathC2+ (like Hippocampe and MATh. en.JEANS), the promenades mathématiques, Les maths ça sert, le labosaïque, specific actions for girls, and the electronic journal Interstices.

Thursday 4 December, 14:30 - 17:30

Common discussion on the means of action, the role of math departments (labos) in math outreach activities, preparation of a UMS following Audimath and its cooperation with Cap’Maths.
