IMAGINARY has launched a new educational and artistic format called “MathLapse” to highlight the link between mathematics and real-world phenomena. The name MathLapse (ML) is inspired by the timelapse-technique in physics: By re-scaling time, phenomena are visualized which we cannot observe directly.

A ML is short, simple, self-contained, creative and illustrates a single mathematical idea through true or virtual animated images. The content of ML is diverse. For example it can be a geometrical animation or a time-lapse, which go along with mathematical equations and concise explanations.

Submit your film now via the IMAGINARY platform! The deadline for submission is June 1, 2016.
Prizes are awarded to the best submissions, selected by an expert jury, which is announced at the MathLapse website. The winning MathLapse movies will be screened at the IMAGINARY Conference 2016 and beyond.

Today, February 7th 2018, is called e-day, because e is approximately 2.718, and this date is written 2/7/18 in some parts of the world. We prepared a toy-site listing the first 60.000 digits of e and help you find your birthday in it! We can even find your name within the digits of e, along with the complete works of William Shakespeare, the ending of Game of Thrones (spoiler alert), the full text of the Wikipedia from the year 2030 or what you’ll have tomorrow for breakfast…Read more
