The IMAGINARY platform is now open in Korean!
Apr. 23, 2015
Starting with the successful public launch of NIMS-IMAGINARY in South Korea at the ICM 2014 in Seoul, NIMS has offered a permanent exhibition of IMAGINARY inside its common space at CAMP (Center for Applications of Mathematical Principles), showcasing all contents (program modules, images, films and sculptures) from the ICM exhibition. This exhibition introduced IMAGINARY to about 800 participants from over 30 organizations consisting of students, teachers, mathematicians, but many participants found it hard to join in IMAGINARY community without a Korean webpage. Thanks to the work of the NIMS-IMAGINARY team in CAMP, we now present the whole IMAGINARY platform in Korean, hoping to attract more of the Korean public interested in mathematics.   Along with the website launch, NIMS presents an IMAGINARY exhibition at the spring meeting of KMS (Korean Mathematical Society) during April 24 - April 26. KMS spring meeting is a biannual meeting where Korean mathematicians communicate their results and discuss the future development of KMS. NIMS hopes that this exhibition, with other public events, will advertise IMAGINARY to many Korean mathematicians and the public.

IMAGINARY has launched a new educational and artistic format called “MathLapse” to highlight the link between mathematics and real-world phenomena. The name MathLapse (ML) is inspired by the timelapse-technique in physics: By re-scaling time, phenomena are visualized which we cannot observe directly.

A ML is short, simple, self-contained, creative and...Read more
