Hiltrud Heinrich - Fractals
After working with the SURFER program for many years, I discovered the fractal software Mandelbulber and Mandelbulb 3D in 2011. The later became my constant companion. After experimenting at first, I gradually combined different basic fractals and variations of those to develop images following specific themes, such as ‘Views of a City’, ‘Strange Worlds’ and ‘Twelfth Night’.

Depending on the region, three to twelve nights around Christmas time have a traditional significance. In German, they are called ‘Raunächte’ (Twelfth Night). According to a folk myth, during those nights the wild hunt is performed. The hunters may be either elves or fairies or the dead. Also ghosts and souls of the dead are being furloughed.
