Visitors create a math art exhibition

Visitors create a math art exhibition
Aug. 27, 2013

Following our IMAGINARY approach of collaborative and user generated exhibitions (remember the Mathematics of Planet Earth exhibition, which was created through user contributions) we present you the new project “SURFER - visitors create a math exhibition”, where the exhibition is built on site by the visitors from scratch. The project will be implemented in collaboration with the phaeno in Wolfsburg and will be held from September 13 to September 15, 2013 at the phaeno.

The visitors create three-dimensional algebraic geometry in real-time - in a playful way - and thus create a math art exhibition. Colourful forms, generated through simple formulas! The images can be printed on site and this way - step y step - a maths exhibition is created on the walls of the exhibition through the contributions by the visitors only.

We also offer you to participate from home: you can use the SURFER program to create visualizations. The program can be downloaded at www. imaginary.org/program/surfer. The pictures including the respective formula can be sent to surfer@phaeno.de. The most beautiful twenty entries are selected and will be shown in the exhibition!

The deadline for submissions is: September 11, 2013.

This user generated exhibition is part of the “phaenomenale”: http://phaenomenale.com/13/. The event is connected to the “Mathe x anders” exhibition shown at the phaeno.

More details can be found on the event page at imaginary.org/event/surfer-visitors-create-a-maths-exhibition.
