Jean Constant - Julia set
The Julia set, named after the French mathematician Gaston Julia, consists of values such that an arbitrarily small perturbation can cause drastic changes in the sequence of iterated function values. The image is created by mapping each pixel to a rectangular region of the complex plane. A significant property of the Julia sets is the so called “self-similarity” property, which can easily be adjusted to designs of a more artistic nature when dealing with symmetry and mirroring in a representational 2D environment.

Fragments of a Julia set created in 3D-XplorMath were assembled and manipulated in a raster graphic program to create an original visualization using design techniques of mirroring and symmetry.
